SAM PENASO

Sam Penaso is a multi-disciplinary Filipino artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and performance. Known for his richly textured surfaces and evolving abstract language, Penaso constructs layered visual environments that explore movement, material, and spatial rhythm. His works often merge industrial elements such as steel with painterly gestures, creating a dialogue between strength and sensitivity.

With over 30 solo exhibitions in the Philippines and abroad—including presentations in Japan, Germany, Singapore, New York, Abu Dhabi, and Berlin—Penaso has established a strong international presence. He has represented the Philippines in major global art platforms such as the Beijing International Art Biennale and the Nippon International Performance Art Festival. His body of work reflects both experimentation and discipline, positioning him as a dynamic voice in contemporary Filipino art.
