ZEUS BASCON
Zeus Bascon (b. 1987, Santa Rosa, Laguna) is a multidisciplinary Filipino artist whose practice unfolds through painting, installation, performance, publishing, and acts of community-building. Moving fluidly between the intimate and the collective, his work navigates themes of memory, folklore, labor, and transformation, treating the everyday as a site where histories are continually rewritten.
His projects often extend beyond the studio, embracing collaboration, conversation, and shared authorship as artistic methodologies. Through his ongoing initiative Cultivating a Garden, Bascon imagines creative practice as an ecology—one that grows through relationships, care, and the slow cultivation of place.
Over the past two decades, his work has been exhibited across the Philippines and internationally, with presentations in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Germany, Canada, and the United States. In 2018, he was recognized with the Cultural Center of the Philippines' Thirteen Artists Award, affirming a practice that is at once deeply rooted in local realities and expansively engaged with contemporary artistic discourse.
